- How do I find a specific church?
- Use the search bar at the top of any page, or visit the Archive to filter by name, location, tag, or grade. The Map page lets you explore churches near you visually.
- What does the grading system mean?
- Churches are graded by Historic England. Grade I covers buildings of exceptional interest. Grade II* covers particularly important buildings. Grade II covers nationally important buildings worth preserving.
- Can I contribute information about a church?
- Yes — visit any church profile page and use the Contribute button to suggest corrections, add historical notes, or upload photos. All contributions are reviewed before going live.
- How do I report incorrect information?
- Use the Contribute button on the relevant church profile, or send us a message using the form on this page. Please include the church name and list entry number if you have it.
- Are the church profiles official Historic England records?
- Our profiles are based on publicly available Historic England listing data, enriched with additional research. For official designation records, please refer directly to the National Heritage List for England.
- How often is the data updated?
- We regularly sync with the latest listing data and community contributions. The 'last updated' date on each profile shows when it was most recently reviewed.
- Can I use Church Pilgrim content in my own project?
- Please contact us before reproducing content. Some data originates from publicly licensed sources, but our enriched profiles and editorial content are our own. We're happy to discuss partnerships.
- A church I know is missing — how do I get it added?
- If you've spotted a church that isn't in our archive, please email us at support@churchpilgrim.co.uk with as much detail as you can — name, location, and any known history. A member of the team will be in touch to discuss getting it added.
- I have a question not answered here — what should I do?
- Send us a message using the contact form and we'll get back to you as soon as we can, usually within a few working days.
